About Counselling

About Counselling

What is Counselling?

Counselling provides a safe, confidential and supportive environment in which you can choose to discuss or analyse any situation you are facing. I will work with you to gain a better understanding of confusing or difficult emotions or feelings. I make sure that you can talk freely and be confident that I will be listening.

What conditions can counselling help with?

Every counsellor is different. I am able to offer help with the following:

·
Depression or stress
·
Anxiety – Panic attacks
·
Abuse – physical, emotional or sexual
·
Self harm
·
Serious illness / Bereavement
·
Feelings of loneliness / isolation or experiencing a sense of rejection
·
Coping with difficult family situations
·
Trying to understand past experiences
·
Experiencing relationship problems
·
Trying to cope with a personal crisis
·
Addictions
·
Cultural issues affecting relationships

The above list is provided for general guidance only. You may be unable to identify what your problems are, but instead have a vague feeling of being blocked and that your life is limited in some way. You may also recognise that you feel locked into repeating patterns of behaviour.

“ Worrying is the most natural and spontaneous of all human functions.
It is time to acknowledge this, perhaps even to learn to do it better”.

Louise Thomas

What Benefits can you expect from counselling?

·
Counselling provides a safe environment where we can work through to tackle a troubling issue or concern in a confidential and professional relationship.

·
Counselling can help to develop self-esteem and an ability to deal with situations in the long term.

·
It can also facilitate the development of a strong sense of self , through which a greater quality of life can be realised.

Hopefully, by working together with you, counselling should enable you to achieve your hopes and aspirations in life by resolving challenges that you face and by developing your own responses to difficult issues.

"Nobody can go back and start a new beginning,
but anyone can start today and make a new ending"
