Qualifications and Background
Background Qualifications and professional membershipI have a B.Sc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling. I decided some years ago that my practical training and experience has to reflect an understanding of various approaches to Counselling. This involves approaches ranging from psychodynamic, person-centred to behavioural counselling. Psychodynamic counselling assumes that a client’s difficulties may have their ultimate origins in childhood experiences. It involves an exploration of the unconscious roots of the problems which are being experienced. Person-centred counselling approach emphasizes the concept of a person’s ‘self’ and counselling in this area is aimed at developing their capacity for growth and fulfilment. Behavioural counselling tries to understand your behaviour and explore for better options.
I am a Member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and also a member of Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (UPCA).
A Personal ApproachIn line with my qualifications and experience I have a multi-faceted perspective to draw upon. My approach is tailored to meet your needs and address any problems that may be involved. I believe that every person is unique -there are no easy answers which apply uniformly to all people..
I believe in investing in myself to benefit my clients and am constantly attending courses and seminars. This is one way that I can help to bring some of the latest thinking on key issues in people’s lives.
I welcome clients from all cultures and ethnicities regardless of age, gender, ability, religion or sexual orientation.
ConfidentialityI subscribe to the BACP Code of Ethics. All personal information shared with me is strictly confidential. No information will be disclosed to a third party without your prior permission, unless in exceptional circumstances such as requirements of a Court of Law.
